1.00pm - 7.00pm (Brissie Time)
Welcome to our inaugural English For Homeschoolers Cyber Camp. Join us for a day of activities, workshops and other fun stuff as our community gathers to kick off the new school year.
This is the time to ask questions, meet our team and learn about our plans for the year. We'll be showcasing the talent of our community with songs, poetry recitals and stories. There's a Q&A session for parents and guest speakers to bring us their experience to demystify some of the learning processes surrounding homeschooling. It's for those of us who are new to homeschooling and those who are old hands. And, if you know a ghost story for our campfire, all the better.
Registration is free and you can come and go as you like. We'll be there for the duration (although I might have a bit of a snooze during the Minecraft session, but no worries, the kids are old hands).
A tentative program is as follows:
1.00pm Reading Session - Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow, by Jessica Townsend, with quizzes and activities (don't forget to bring your journals)
2.00pm Guest Speaker - Morag Gamble, from Nature Kids, with lots of great ideas on getting our kids active
2.30pm Guest Speaker - TBA
3.00pm Q&A Session for parents - this is where you get to ask the questions as I outline our plans for Term 1 and beyond
4.00pm Showtime - this is where the kids get to shine with poetry recitals, singalongs and story reading
5.00pm Minecraft for those of us that are keen (while the rest of us nap)
6.00pm Ghost Stories Around the Campfire - don't forget to bring your stories to share
***Please note, this program is subject to change - like everything we do, things tend to grown like topsy
That's about it for now. We use Zoom for our lessons, bookclub meetings and Q&A sessions throughout the year so we thought we'd try it for our camp as well. It's easy to use and the kids can take their turn at using the whiteboards and taking the floor. Once you register you'll be given a access code and this is what you use to join us on the day. All you need to do is choose the sessions you would like to attend and that's all there is to it.
See you on the inside.
